Split Second is a 1992 science fiction action horror film directed by Tony Maylam, starring the Dutch actor, Rutger Hauer and also starring Kim Cattrall and Neil Duncan. It is the year 2008. Global warming had caused very heavy rainfall for 40 days in 1999. 6. Split Second — British Horror Films
From the look and feel of it (macho posturing, enormous guns, lots of swearing, Kim Cattrall, Rutger Hauer) you'd expect it to hail from about 1985.
Ah, they don't make films like this any more. Jarring electronic soundtracks, near-future settings with the world on the brink of oblivion, Rutger Hauer as a cop on the edge, blue neon-saturated sets and someone saying "What the fuck?" every 30 seconds. I haven't seen the trailer for Split Second, but I would imagine it went the same way as the other 20 trailers for Rutger Hauer films at the beginning of my copy: "Rutger Hauer is Stone, a cop on the edge. In a flooded London of the future he must track down a vicious serial killer to save his own soul..." etc.

The MVD Blu-ray doesn’t miss ANY opportunities when it comes to the extras, however, as this disc is completely packed to the gills. For starters, there’s a fun audio commentary from film historian Mike Leeder and filmmaker Arne Venema that is pretty much non-stop from the jump, with both men dropping factoids and having great fun watching the film along the way.

Split Second is one of the worst movies ever made. It was purportedly written by Gary Scott Thompson, the screenwriting luminary behind Hollow Man and The Fast and the Furious, movies that, though unburdened by excessive competence, at least have stories you could summarize while drunk. Split Second, in contrast, appears to be the product of notes scribbled on a cocktail napkin. RUTGER HAUER! SERIAL KILLER? SATAN???? GLOBAL WARMING????
